I’ve been invited to a bridal shower, and have no idea what is an appropriate gift. I don’t have very much money to spend. Do people usually get a gift for the bride? Like a nighty or jewelry? Or is it better to get something for the couple? They are registered, but that’s for the wedding gift, right?
First call the person who is throwing the party. Ask her if the bride has a regerstry anywhere for herself. If she dosen’t I wouldn’t ask the one you are talking to. I would just say thank you and say how you are looking foward to the shower oh and ask if there will be a wishing well.
Wishing wells are for kitchen and bath gifts. Usally pot holder and kitchen towel sets.
Bridal gifts depend on how much you know the bride. If you are a very good friend who has known her for a very long time than you can give her a nighty or spencer’s like gift.
Otherwise you can buy something that the couple has on the regerstry. You could also give her a day spa gift card or something of the like. My family used to own a kitchen, bath, body and bedroom shope so I would always bring something of that vain. You could buy her a home body spa kit or a nice basket body and bath set. Those are very nice but don’t go for the cheap stuff.
I hope I helped or at least gave you a seed of an idea.
Enjoy the shower!
A bridal shower gift is typically something for the home of the ‘to be married’ couple – bath towels, kitchen goodies, cookbooks, etc.
By all means pick something from the registry. Anything $20.00 and up is usually OK.
bridal shower is typically a gift for the home or the bride
bachelorette party you typically give lingerie
if you don’t have allot of money don’t worry … just get something small … perhaps a pretty silver picture frame, or a set of glasses from Pier 1 (under 20 bucks)
Gift registries are typically for the showers, but can also be used for the wedding; however, the bulk of wedding gifts tend to be monetary.
No worries about your budget, if nothing on the registry appeals to you and/or your budget, how about buying a trendy cookbook, like an appetizer or cocktail cookbook with cute printed napkins or wine charms or something?
Brides are just happy to be celebrated, they’re not counting on a specific gift from you. Your presence and an appropriate gift should be enough!
maybe you can build a custom doll for them? I had seen a kind of weeding doll build on their pics, perfect!

you can give the future bride some bridal magazines which could help her prepare for the wedding
Use the registry if you can. If not, try lotion, soap, etc.– something girly!
Mawia, mentioned kitchen goodies. I think a hanging pot and pan rack for the kitchen would be perfect!
There are lots of ways to look at it.
For her, for the honeymoon, for a room in the house, but before you buy find out if there is a theme.
I found this site that offers ideas to help you come up with a gift. Some are honeymoon related and others are cute and they range from Wedding time capsule to name change kit to couples glassware.
Cute and fun.
